Due to rains, cattle inflow in Poigai market on Tuesday decreased and trading also fell by half.
A weekly cattle market at Poikai, Vellore district, fetches Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 3 crore cattle trade is going on.
In this case, due to the rains, the arrival of livestock to the market was reduced. While usually about 1,500 cows such as dairy cows, Josi hybrid cows, bulls and plow cows are brought for sale every week, only about 700 cows were brought to the market this week. Meanwhile, the farmers and traders came to buy them in small quantities, so the trading did not take place as expected.
Due to widespread rains for the past few days and the announcement of heavy rains, the inflow of cattle has decreased and the volume has halved to about Rs.50 lakhs.
